The Advanced Diploma in Quality Management in Business and Management is offered by Nelson Mandela University.

Program Length: 2 YEARS.

This qualification has been approved in terms of the new Higher Education Qualification Sub-Framework (HEQSF).
The main aim of this qualification is to provide students with the knowledge and skills that will allow them to determine and manage the effectiveness of quality management systems, evaluate the current systems and processes, identify problems in the field, and use the skills provided to minimise the issues found. 
The Advanced Diploma in Quality Management tries to: 
  • Acquire the ability to identify, analyse, evaluate, reflect on and solve manufacturing and service-related problems within the quality management field. 
  • Develop the ability to access, process, and manage information.
  • Independently validate sources of information and evaluate and manage this information to solve problems. 
  • Produce and communicate information demonstrating the ability to develop and communicate ideas and opinions using appropriate discourse. 

Admission Requirements 

  • It is required that students have a 65% average for any National Diploma, Diploma or Degree, or a 60% average, with two years of relevant post-diploma/degree working experience. 
  • Mathematics I or equivalent at an NQF Level 5.
  • Employment in a relevant field.
  • Those applicants who are from non-English speaking countries are required to submit proof of English proficiency before registration, such as the TOEFL or IELTS.
  • Other and non-South African qualifications will be considered based on SAQA reports and merit and may require the submission of curricula and learning material. These applicants may be required to complete additional modules to enhance their preparation for this qualification.

This type of qualification gives students the possibility to work as quality practitioners, managers, supervisors, and foremen. By studying this degree, students will effectively learn the application and management of resources of different types. Among the different tasks that these professionals have to undertake are quality enhancement and assurance, supply chain management, increased productivity, cost reduction and flexibility improvements.
