Nelson Mandela University

The Nelson Mandela University, first called Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU), was founded on January 1st, 2005 as a result of the merging of the PE Technikon the University of Port Elizabeth (UPE) and the Port Elizabeth campus of Vista University (Vista PE). This fusion took place as the country was intended to generate a more methodical educational system, one which met all the needs of the country. 
This university has become one of the best in the country and the continent and it is now chosen by a great number of students for its vigour and diversity.

Admission Requirements 

Depending on the type of degree the student wants to achieve, the minimum statutory entry requirements will vary. 

  • Higher education degrees require passing the NSC with a minimum of 30% of the language of learning and teaching, in this case, English. 
  • Diplomas require passing the NSC with a minimum of 30% in English and an achievement rating of 3 NSC 20-credit subjects. 
  • Bachelors degrees require passing the NSC with a minimum of 30% in English plus 4 or more NSC 20-credit subjects. 

To enter this university, a student must comply with the minimum statutory entry requirements of the type of degree they want to achieve. Additionally, applicants must meet the Applicant Score (AS), subject(s) and percentage % pass required for specific subjects.

Infrastructure 

The University tries to make the students’ life easier, which is why they offer a great variety of services and facilities for them to enjoy. It has seven different campuses:

Scholarships
