The BHSc Honours in Forensic Science is offered by the Division of Forensic Medicine and Pathology in the School of Pathology. The “academic seat” of the Division is currently based at the Johannesburg Forensic Pathology Service (FPS) Medico-Legal Mortuary in Braamfontein, where medico-legal autopsies are also performed.Students who pursue this postgraduate Honours degree would qualify as “Forensic Scientists”. Should students wish to become “Forensic Pathologists”, an MBBCh degree in Medicine is required, whereafter a 4 year registrar training programme in Forensic Pathology has to be successfully completed.
