The World Beyond Online Learning: Bachelor in Interaction Design
Wednesday, 02 December 2020
The number of online programmes is constantly increasing, but there are still some that haven’t made that transition.
Online bachelor's degrees are very popular nowadays, and it’s comprehensible, but not every discipline or institution has made that transition to the virtual world. However, that doesn’t mean that what they have to offer is less than what online programmes give. For instance, there are institutions that have some online programmes such as online bachelor's degrees, but most of their academic offer is still composed of in-person degrees.
The main point is: There is a world beyond online bachelor's degrees, certificates, diplomas, and online programmes in general. And it is still pretty interesting and fulfilling.
For instance, the Inscape Education Group offers some online programmes, generally certificates, but not online bachelor's degrees. However, they offer students the opportunity to enroll in their programme: Bachelor in Interaction Design.
What is it about? Well, it consists of learning how to design a virtual system that fulfils people’s expectations at the time of interacting with it. This might sound simple, but it's not. Think about the number of websites or apps you use in your daily life. You usually visit them looking for some information, whether it is an address, a telephone number, a specific video or article, like this one you are reading right now. Sometimes it is pretty straightforward: a search bar or different sections clearly distinguished between each other, maybe tagged with different colours. But on other occasions everything is messy, and you have to guess in which category the article is, or how to get to the information you are looking for without any clue of where it might be.
In early stages of website and app designing that was understandable, we were all new, but in today’s world that can’t happen anymore, because the slightest difficulty for the user might lead to that person abandoning your website or uninstalling your app. So UX design is important now more than ever to succeed in the virtual world.
And yet it's not part of the online bachelor's offer (at least not in general), but that doesn’t mean it has less importance.
So, this Bachelor’s Degree in Interaction design is a great opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in a field that is only going to keep growing. Yes, you can pursue it only through in-person learning, and it has a minimum length of three years, but it is definitely worth it.
