Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages around the world. The official language of Spain, the majority of Latin-American countries and Equatorial Guinea, which offers a rich variety of cultures and literatures to learn from.
Why study Spanish?There is great potential for Spanish speakers in Africa especially in the fields of tourism and hospitality, international relations, journalism, translation and interpreting and teaching.Why study Spanish at Wits?The University of the Witwatersrand has established collaborations with the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and with the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). These collaborations seek to promote the teaching of Spanish language and the culture of Spanish speaking countries as well as facilitate academic exchanges for staff and students. The academic programs have been recently developed taking into account the current Curriculum transformation taking place across the university.
