Advanced Diploma in Public Administration and Management

The Advanced Diploma in Public Administration and Management in Public Administration is offered by Nelson Mandela University.

Program Length: 1 YEAR.

This programme has been approved in terms of the new Higher Education Qualifications Sub-Framework (HEQSF).

The main purpose of the Advanced Diploma in Public Administration and Management is to equip graduates with theoretical knowledge, operational proficiency, and a critical understanding of the socio-economic and socio-political aspects that shape public service.

Admission Requirements 

Candidates who wish to study for this qualification must: 

• Have a Diploma in Public Administration and Management from Nelson Mandela University or an equivalent qualification approved by the Senate. 
• Hold an appropriate Diploma in Administration and Management with at least a mark of 60%, except otherwise approved by the Head of Department or the Learning Programme Coordinator.
• Candidates with an average between 55-60 % but with relevant and at least two years’ work experience may be invited to interview.

Re-admission Requirements 

Students are informed via e-mail if the decision has been to exclude the candidate from the programme. Appeals should be submitted to the Faculty Administration by the last day of the January re-examination period or within five days of receiving notification of re-admission refusal, but not later submissions will be considered. 

By the end of each semester, the Faculty Administration analyses the students’ progress and tries to identify those students who were not able to meet the required re-admission conditions. Then, students are informed accordingly, and those who have failed to the re-admission will have one further opportunity to apply for enrollment in an alternative programme in another school or faculty.
