Diploma in Sport Management

The Diploma in Sport Management in Physical Education, Recreation and Fitness Studies is offered by Nelson Mandela University.

Program Length: 3 YEARS.

 This programme has been approved in terms of the new Higher Education Qualification Sub-Framework (HEQSF).

The aim of this programme is to prepare students for the great number of career paths that have emerged in the field of sports. The Diploma of Sports Management consists of different subjects such as sports management, sport science for sports management, or marketing and public relations, which makes sure that students have the skills and tools for management, administration, and marketing positions within the sports industry. 

Admission Requirements

  • The student must meet the minimum NSC statutory requirements.
  • Applicants with NSC Grade 12 Mathematics or Technical Mathematics require a minimum Applicant Score of 330. 
  • Applicants with NSC Grade 12 Mathematical Literacy require a minimum Applicant Score of 345. 
  • An NSC achievement score of at least 40% for Mathematics or Technical Mathematics and 60% for Mathematical Literacy. 
  • The student must actively participate in competitive sports as approved by the department. 
  • Preference will be given to students who have excelled in sports and/or who have extensive involvement in sports.
