The primary purpose of this qualification is to provide the qualifying student (the professional nursing practitioner) with the further development of her/his intellectual, practical and reflective competencies/abilities (knowledge, skills, attitudes and values) as an advanced midwife and neonatal nurse (clinical nurse specialist) to promote the health of the individual, family, group and community as an active member of the inter-sectoral, multi-professional and multi-disciplinary health teams. This qualification shall lead to registration as a post-basic advanced midwife and neonatal nurse with the SANC.
