This Master of Medicine (MMed) programme is offered in all the recognised specialities of medicine in South Africa. This programme is structured to meet the Health Professions Council of South Africa's (HPSCA) requirements for specialisation. It extends over a period of four to five years. Candidates must be incumbents of registered training posts.

Assessment and examination
- To be admitted to the FCPath(SA) Anat Part I and FCPath(SA) Anat Part II examinations, you must:
- fulfil the conditions as outlined in the Registrar Policy of the National Health Laboratory Service and
- obtain a pass mark of 50% in the flexible assessment.
- The final mark is calculated as follows:
- MMed assignment – 25%;
- FCPath(SA) Anat Part II – 65%; and
- Formative assessment – 10%.
